Accurate data extraction with IDP

Exact Sciences is a molecular diagnostics company specializing in the detection of early-stage cancers. Its purpose is to eradicate cancer by preventing it, detecting it earlier, and guiding personalized treatment.

One way they’re doing that is through their flagship product, Cologuard, a colorectal cancer testing kit. In the 10 years since its launch, Exact Sciences has completed 16 million screenings, with 4 million in 2023 alone. It’s detected 623,000 cancers and polyps, giving patients early detection and faster access to treatment.

To order the Cologuard kit, physicians across 300 health systems prescribe it for home delivery, with a significant number of orders sent via fax. For manual orders, someone would have to work a queue, pull up an order, screen the image, extract up to 20 different data points, and key that into the system.

Instead, Exact Sciences worked with TQA to design and deploy UiPath Intelligent Document Processing (IDP). The model, trained on thousands of documents, accelerated order processing by extracting data with 99% accuracy.
